Purpose:

To ensure Breckland Council maintains its obligations under the Animal Welfare (Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018

Decision:

To establish a part time fixed term post for 2 years to carry out visits, inspections, and examinations of new and already licensed premises in respect of animal welfare licensing under the Animal Welfare (Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018. As well as enforcement of unlicensed activities under the regulations.

 

This include licences for dog breeding, dog and cat boarding in commercial premises (catteries and kennels), home boarding of dogs, commercial animal day care, pet shops (and those selling animals as pets), riding schools and exhibition of animals.

 

Reasons for the decision:

To ensure Breckland Council maintains its obligations under the Animal Welfare (Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018.

Alternative options considered:

1.     To approve the part time, fixed term Officer Post.

2.     To not approve the part time, fixed term Officer post.
